December 10, 2009

Greetings!

It is time to come up to speed and update everyone on the 2009 season.  Thanks everyone for the e-mails, and other inquires that Trails West Outfitters LLC has received this past year.

In 1987, I formed Trails West Outfitters.  With the addition of camps over the years, we added Full Circle Outfitters to the family.  The time has come to pull all the camps together under the original name…Trails West Outfitters LLC.  We are the same outfit…same people, same guides and same great service!

Over the past years, our elk camps have enjoyed a 75%-90% success rate, with a 100% opportunity.  This year was no exception.  We also filled 100% of our sheep hunters with nice rams.  Last but surely not least, the fishing and sightseeing trips on the Greybull were outstanding as usual, with many 2010 dates booked with return clients.  Be sure you visit our website to view some photos from the 2009 season.

The time to apply for a Wyoming Elk License is near. The 2010 application period for a Wyoming Elk License is January 1 through January 31, 2010.  If you wish to book a hunt this year, once again I will fill out the license application for you and hand deliver the applications to Wyoming Game and Fish in Cheyenne on January 31, 2010.  A Booking Agreement is available for your convenience on the web site, or I can send one to you.  The Booking Agreement from the web site is all that I need to complete your license application.

As you know, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department has a preference point system for non-resident elk, deer, sheep, moose and antelope hunters.  When you apply, you will have three options as follows:

  • You can make an application (January 1 through January 31) for a 2010 Elk license and not purchase a preference point.  (Not Recommended)
  • You can apply (January 1 through January 31) for an Elk license for 2010, and purchase a preference point where if you are not successful in the draw for an Elk License, you will receive a preference point for the future.  (Recommended)
  • You can purchase a preference point and not apply for a 2010 license.  Purchasing a Preference Point only, has to be done July 1 through September 30, 2010.  If you don’t plan to hunt in 2010, but plan to hunt in the future, this is an important option to build preference points.

I cannot over emphasize the importance of acquiring preference points if you plan on hunting Wyoming in the future.

I have had several inquiries about archery elk hunts.  If you are interested in an archery elk hunt, we have several excellent archery guides that would be glad to accommodate anyone wishing to hunt with a bow.

Please visit our web site at www.trailswestoutfitters.com for current 2009 photos and more information about the camp and services offered.  Should you have any questions, feel free to call me at 888-283-9793 for additional information.  We look forward to assisting you with your outdoor adventures in 2010.

Happy Holidays From Our Camp to Yours….
